Total Time: 55 mins

Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 (5-ounce) salmon fillets

Instructions

  • Marinate: In a shallow container with a tight-fitting lid, combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, ginger, pepper, and salt. Place the salmon flesh-side down in the marinade, turning to coat both sides. Seal and refrigerate for 30 minutes (reserve a little marinade in a separate bowl for basting, if desired).
  • Preheat: Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate. Once hot, turn one side of the grill down to low heat.
  • Grill: Place the salmon skin-side down over the low-heat side of the grill and close the lid. Cook for about 20 minutes, basting once with the reserved marinade, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  • Serve: Slide a spatula between the salmon and the skin to lift it cleanly from the grill.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
